A permanent exhibit of twenty etchings of George Washington’s life are now on display in the Conference Room of the Craik-Patton House. The Craik-Patton Collection Committee accepted the etchings as a gift from Priscilla Lawson, Vice Regent Emerita of Mount Vernon and past Craik-Patton Inc. president. The gift is given in memory of Betty Wellford, who was a leading spirit in the moving and restoration of the house. The etchings were created by artists of the 1920s and 1930s and were sold in a portfolio. Because of James Craik’s familial ties with George Washington, the art is a permanent exhibit for guests to enjoy during tours and meetings. The Collections Committee would also like to offer the exhibit on loan to other museums and historical houses.
