Adams Alive in WV

The Huntington, West Virginia Society of the Colonial Dames of America hosted a History Alive! Weekend November 7-9, 2014  with veteran actor Peyton Dixon portraying John Adams, the second President of the United States. Dixon delighted and educated audiences at Huntington Middle School, St. Joseph Middle School and 150 guests at Guyan Golf and Country Club. Luncheon guests enjoyed a special menu created by Abigail Adams and music by the Fife and Drum Corps of Marshall University.

Dixon’s remarks emphasized how President Adams’ leadership, courage and oratorical skills laid the foundation for the nation, making America a beacon of freedom.  Dixon also paid tribute to all Colonial Dames of America, saying, “They possess the same spirit as the patriots.

Coordinators of the Adams events were Mrs. Richard Wilson and Mrs. Phillips Emmons. NSCDA-WV President Mrs. John Parks Boylin and past president Mrs. Churchill Hodges also served on the committee. NSCDA-WV raised over $12,000 in support of the Craik-Patton Museum House in Charleston, West Virginia, the headquarters of NSCDA-WV.
